Visit the Woodlawn Museum

  • Tour the historic Col. John Black house.
  • Take a stroll through the formal garden and tea lawn. Lilac hedges, perennials, horse chestnut trees, hemlocks and a community garden.
  • Play traditional six-wicket croquet on the perfectly flat court planted with bent grass and mowed to ¼ of an inch in height. The only championship level court in Downeast Maine available to the public for a fee.
  • Picnic and play on the spacious and grassy lawns.
  • Enjoy the over two miles of trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, running and of course walking.
  • Woodlawn Museum is located on Route 172 (Surry Road), approximately ¼ mile from downtown Ellsworth.
