Planning
-
EDBA members
serve on committees planning Downtown parking solutions and the future of
economic development in Ellsworth. When an issue involving Downtown planning
arises, we welcome participation of all Downtown stakeholders.
-
The EDBA works
with the City of Ellsworth, the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce, the Grand,
Ellsworth Arts and other area nonprofit and cultural institutions on a
regular basis.
-
The EDBA plans to
apply for nonprofit status in 2008.
Streetscape Design
-
EDBA members are
working with the City to plan parking, wayfaring signage, Downtown "welcome"
gateway signage and light post banners.
-
Throughout the
year, the EDBA decorates Downtown with flags, flowers, trees, lights and
other seasonal decor.
New Members Welcome!
-
An economically
and culturally vibrant Downtown is not possible without continual community
interaction. The EDBA is more effective when we combine our strengths and
pool resources.
-
A monthly
newsletter is planned for 2008 to help members keep in touch with what's
going on.
-
Regular monthly
meetings of the EDBA are held on the first Friday of every month at 8:30 am
at the Maine Grind. Please feel free to attend.
Education
-
EDBA members have
requested that we sponsor workshops to help hone business and marketing
skills. Some suggested workshops for 2008 are writing effective press
releases and improving web presence.
-
Other suggestions
including working with the College of the Atlantic on energy savings audits
and education on how we can conduct business in a more ecologically mindful
way.
Marketing
-
EDBA members are
working on a year long cooperative advertising calendar in coordination with
media representatives so that marketing can be planned for and budgeted in
advance.
-
EDBA members are
invited to send logos, pictures, event notices and other information for
inclusion on this website
www.downtownellsworth.com.
-
We will be
working on cross linking with member and other websites.
Event Sponsorship
-
The EDBA hosts or
participates in many events throughout the year such as parades, the Holiday
Family Festival, Autumn Gold, Winter Carnival, Halloween Haunted House and
Trick or Treat for Kids, Make a Difference Day, the Rotary Blueberry Pancake
Breakfast, Arts & Antiques Week, Music On Main and much more.
-
This year the
EDBA and individual EDBA members are helping to sponsor Fireworks at the
Ellsworth Middle School.
